About Stoner LA

Stoner LA is an independent stoner's guide to Los Angeles, put together by a few LA lifers who have spent way too many nights figuring out where to eat after a sesh. We grew up on both sides of the hills, we've sat in traffic on every freeway with a number, and we have strong opinions about al pastor. This site is where those opinions live.

Who we are

Just a few locals. Some of us are Westside, some are Eastside, one is stubbornly Valley and won't stop bringing it up. We've been doing the LA thing long enough to remember when certain taco trucks only had one spot, and we still argue about whether Runyon counts as a hike (it doesn't, it's a gym with a view).

We keep our names off the site on purpose. It's not about us. It's about the places.

Why this exists

Every "things to do in LA" list reads like it was written by someone who visited once and stayed in a hotel by the airport. And the stoner side of the internet is mostly dispensary ads dressed up as advice.

We wanted the thing we'd actually send a friend who's flying in. Where to go when you're a little toasted and want to stare at something beautiful. Where the food hits hardest at 1am. Which theaters make a double feature feel like an event. How the rules on where you can sesh actually work, explained like a person and not a pamphlet.

So we built it. Start with the LA munchies guide, the late-night guide, or the neighborhood guides and go from there.

How we pick places

Our rules are simple, and we don't bend them.

Nobody pays to be here. No paid placements, no sponsored picks, no "partner" spots. If a place is on this site, it's because one of us loves it.

No affiliate links. We don't make a cent when you click something or go somewhere. There's nothing to click, honestly. Every link on the site goes to another page on the site.

We only name places we'd send a friend. If we wouldn't tell our own cousin to go, it doesn't make the cut. That's why plenty of famous spots aren't here, and why a strip-mall Thai place might get more love than a restaurant with a velvet rope.

We don't list dispensaries. LA has them on basically every corner, and you'll find one without our help. We don't rank them, review them or point you to any of them. The only cannabis businesses we name are licensed consumption lounges, because "where can I actually sesh?" is a real question people need answered.

We keep it evergreen. No event calendars, no "this weekend," no menu prices that'll be wrong in a month. We write about places that have been around and feel like they'll stick around. And we go back and check that the places we name are still standing, because LA loses good spots all the time and nothing's worse than a ride across town to a locked door.

A couple of things we won't do

We won't tell you to drive high, ever. Every plan on this site assumes a ride, a walk, the Metro, or the friend who's staying sober tonight (buy that person dinner). We also won't lecture you. You're an adult. We figure you'd rather have the good taco truck than a list of warnings.

Got a question we haven't covered? Check the Stoner LA FAQ or start from the home page and wander. That's kind of the whole point.
